Four Seasons Hotel Taormina

The Lowdown

With spectacular views in every direction, Saen Domenico Palace is uniquely situated between the majesty of Mount Etna above, the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea below, and the beautiful south-eastern coast of Sicily as far as the eye can see. The hotel is situated in the hilltop town of Taormina, just off the main street, Corso Umberto. You will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the town, and you can wander its medieval streets before stopping at the ancient Greek theatre. It was built on the former site of a 14th century convent and has welcomed royalty and celebrities over the years.

The Rooms

With just 111 guestrooms and suites, the atmosphere is intimate, as though returning to a treasured friend’s seaside home each year. The most coveted room is the Royal Suite, with principal rooms all opening onto a large terrace and plunge pool with views of Mount Etna, the ancient Greek Theatre and the Ionian Sea. Terraces are lined with glass for infinity views, and in all, there are 19 rooms with private plunge pools. This impressive hotel was originally built on the site of a 14th-century convent, perched on a rocky promontory high above the Ionian Sea, with panoramic views of Mount Etna. It first opened in 1896 with the addition of a new building and over subsequent years, it became favored by royalty, creatives and Hollywood stars.

Services and facilities

San Domenico Palace has a magnificent 17th century portal crowned by the crest of the Domenican order. It has also two cloistered courtyards and Italian gardens. The beautiful pop-up botanica spa with three treatment rooms, a fitness center and the outdoor infinity pool are a must.

Food & Drinks

Three exclusive restaurants and one intimate bar are located in 4 strategic points of the hotel: Principe Cerami: the hotel’s signature restaurant, curated by award-winning chef Massimo Mantarro, Rosso: all-day restaurant for tasting Sicilian specialties and classic international dishes, Anciovi: poolside restaurant and bar serving seafood, Sicilian sushi plates and innovative cocktails, and Bar & Chiostro: for cocktails, coffee and a light cuisine, surrounded by the beauty of the colonnade and exotic plants.
